The Analysis of mutes on trombone and trumpet timbre
Košař, Vojtěch ; Mojdl, Edgar (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work deals with the sound mute issues, specifically how they affect the timbre of a trombone and a trumpet, their sound spectrum, levels of individual harmonic tones, the presence of formants and the directional characteristics of individual tones played in various dynamics. A part of this work is also focused on the theoretical description of a trombone and a trumpet, including their brief history, their classification, the parts they are consisting of and the timbre. The theoretical part is further dealing with the description of mathematic functions like FFT or LPC analysis, which have been implemented in the MATLAB environment when creating the graphic dependents for this theme.
Analysis of Spectral Density and Directional Radiation of Baroque, Modern, and Plastic Trombone
Cibuľa, Marek ; Otčenášek,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis is focused on spectral and directivity analysis of three types of trombones - baroque, modern and plastic and their experimental measurement. It describes the way of a measurement realization with microphone field used for recording and technical realization of signal processing. It discusses relationships between material, mechanical dimensions and final timbre of sound.

The Program simulating the mutes of brass instruments
Košař, Vojtěch ; Indrák, Michal (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This Master’s thesis deals with the creation of a program that simulates an impact of sound mutes on the timbre of a trombone and a trumpet. The simulation in the Reaktor 6 environment is based on an analysis of this impact which compares the spectra and formant regions retrieved from the MATLAB environment. The analysis takes into account also the impact on harmonic overtones. Another part of this work is focusing on the theory of a trombone and a trumpet, their brief history, the parts they are consisting of and the principle of tone formation. In the Reaktor 6 environment there has been created also a sampler functioning as a virtual instrument for the trumpet and the trombon. The last part of the work deals with creating a simulation program with its structure and evaluation.

Trombone lectures for the beginners
Kárník, Václav ; SUŠICKÝ, Jiří (advisor) ; REJLEK, Vladimír (referee)
This bachelor's thesis Trombone lectures for the beginners deals with the teaching, practical methodology, literature and pupil's motivation to play the trombone. It focuses on the particular procedures such as pupil's assumptions for the playing the trombone, choice of the mouthpiece, holding the instrument, embouchure, putting on and breathing. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part discusses the beginnings of the studies of the play the trombone. The second part explains the methodical procedures embouchure and breathing exercises, the development of the technique and the way of playing the legato on lessons. The third part looks into the trombone's literature for the beginners and the last one is about pupil's motivation and also considers the possibilities how to inspire them to play.
